Who's Talking About You?

Hopefully lots of people. Because the more people are talking about you, the bigger the impact your business is making. The more your name is mentioned, the more confidence it inspires. So the more you're talked about, the better your products are remembered when your customers are ready to buy.

If you can present an interesting, well-defined story to the right people, they'll start to talk. And once people start talking, others will too, spreading your news to an ever-increasing audience. You just need to know how to set the ball rolling.

Planting Stories provides you with and delivers the words to put into other people's mouths, giving them reasons to talk about you as you influence the content of the messages being spread.

So if you've got something to say and you want it said well, then get Planting Stories talking about you.

My background

My name is Miriam Young and Planting Stories is my business.

I am the person who will carry out the services described on this website, assuring you of personal attention, professional service and commitment to achieving the best possible results.

Why do I do this? Because I truly enjoy communicating information between the people who want to tell it and the people who want to hear it.

Why can I do it well? Firstly because it's my passion, and secondly because I have had a professional involvement in media and marketing for over 20 years, with more than 10 years’ experience in the horticulture industry. In my mainstream (non-horticulture) copywriting capacity 'm fortunate enough to work with some of the biggest brands on the planet - such as Philips, IBM, Gucci, NIVEA, Douwe Egberts & more. This keeps me on the ball when it comes to current communications techniques.

I grew up in England, gained a nice set of qualifications but decided to ignore everything I'd studied and become a fashion designer. Despite good demand for my creations I hadn't yet developed financial business sense, so with bills mounting up I stepped over into the 'real' world by taking a job selling advertising space for my local newspaper. And never looked back!

One thing led to another, and I developed a career in London as an advertising sales manager at leading publishing houses such as Dennis Publishing and EMAP. An interest in making the news pages rather than selling them resulted in my moving to a record company to become a press officer.

After taking some time out for a spot of travelling, I settled in The Netherlands in 1997, where I eventually became responsible for international marketing and PR activities for perennials exporter Darwin Plants - which has since been acquired by Ball Horticulture.

In 2006 I decided to strike out on my own again as an independent publicist and copywriter, for which purpose I established Planting Stories.

Aside from the green industry publicity and writing activities, I provide freelance copywriting and editing for a broad range of mainstream consumer brands and specialist B2B service providers.
